Mumbai, Aug 1: Actor Salman Khan has received an arms licence after applying for one to protect himself after receiving recent threat letters. Early in June, just a few days after singer Sidhu Moose Wala was fatally shot near Mansa, Punjab, on May 29, the actor and his father received a death threat.
Following Salman’s meeting with the Mumbai Police Commissioner last month, the license-issuing authorities launched the required investigation.
Late last month, the actor went to the Mumbai Police headquarters to meet with senior officer Vivek Phansalkar about obtaining a weapons licence. According to insiders, he wants to get a gun so he can defend himself and his family.
According to sources, he went to the police headquarters to get his physical verified in front of the licencing authorities, which is a requirement when applying for a weapons licence.
Notably, Salman Khan received a death threat from Lawrence Bishnoi in connection with the 1998 black buck poaching case, in which the actor was one of the accused. The unsigned note was discovered by the actor’s father on a bench where he regularly sits after his morning exercise.
