Ranchi, Sept 21: The Jharkhand High Court has now extended the validity of the affidavit to be filed in a criminal case for 21 days. To file such a case, the advocate has to file an affidavit. An affidavit is said to contain complete information about the person concerned. Earlier the petition could be filed within seven days of the submission of the affidavit by the advocate and after the expiry of the period of seven days, the validity of the affidavit would end. But by relaxing the Jharkhand High Court rule, now its validity has been extended to 21 days. At present, this provision has been made till November 16.

Naveen Kumar, general secretary of the Jharkhand High Court Advocates Association, filed a writ in the Jharkhand High Court urging the court to extend the validity of the affidavit in criminal cases by 21 days, citing corona infection. After this, the High Court has agreed to this and implemented this provision.

According to Naveen, the extension of the validity period of the affidavit by the High Court by 3 weeks will speed up the filing of criminal cases and speedy disposal of pending cases.
