Aligarh, Aug 30: Two days after Ankita Singh was set ablaze by accused Shahrukh in Jharkhand’s Dumka, a similar incident was reported in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh.
The incident is that of Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh where a one-sided jilted lover tried to burn a girl alive on Monday night as she was going home from work.
Notably, the girl is a student of class 11 in Kishanpur and works in a saree shop near Ramghat Road. One of her neighbours namely Kaushal Kumar was said to have been in love with her.
As per the girl, while working at the shop on Monday, Kaushal came to see her at the shop. When addressed, he confessed his feelings for the girl and said that he loved her. Upon hearing this, the girl rebuked him and rejected his advances. This was not taken well by the boy, who then tried to take her with him forcefully. The girl then threw some chillies at him in order to escape and ran away.
At 10 pm, the ‘lover’ again reached her shop, as she was leaving for home. As soon as he saw her, he started spraying petrol at her. The girl started shouting, which brought out several locals of the area. They tried catching the culprit, however, he managed to escape.
Soon the police were informed. City SP Kuldip Gunawat said, “The accused has been caught and is being questioned. An FIR is yet to be filed by the victim.”
