Amit Agrawal’s tenure as CEO of UIDAI extended for one year

New Delhi, Oct 2: The Indian central government has granted a one-year extension to senior IAS officer Amit Agrawal in his role as the CEO of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

As per an official order from the Ministry of Personnel, Amit Agrawal, a 1993-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Chhattisgarh cadre, has been granted an extension in his role as the CEO of UIDAI. This extension will last for one year, starting from November 2, 2023, and continuing until November 2, 2024, or until further orders are issued, whichever comes first.

“The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved extension in central deputation tenure of Amit Agrawal, lAS (CG:93), Chief Executive Officer, Unique Identification Authority of India for a period of one year beyond November 2, 2023 i.e. up to November 2, 2024 or until further orders, whichever is earlier,” reads the order.

Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh) graduate Agrawal took over as the UIDAI’s new CEO in June of this year. After Saurabh Garg retired on June 19, he was chosen to fill the job.

In the government, Agrawal has held a variety of significant posts, including Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. He also serves as the National Digital Communications Policy Committee’s chairman.
