New Delhi, June 19: On the occasion of International Yoga Day on Wednesday, Union Minister Amit Shah greeted everyone and said that yoga is an invaluable heritage given by India to the globe. Yoga was also cited by him as a way to concentrate on the body, mind and soul and he claimed that yoga makes both mind and body healthy

“Best wishes to everyone on ‘International Yoga Day’. Yoga is the medium to concentrate the body, mind and soul, which not only makes the body healthy but also the brain,” Amit Shah tweeted in Hindi.

मोदी जी के… pic.twitter.com/VtCQ6TKAQv

Shah claimed that due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yoga has spread throughout the world and become a way of life for many

“This is an invaluable heritage given by India to the world, which Narendra Modi ji has worked to take to the whole world. With the efforts of Modi ji, today ‘Yoga’ has become a lifestyle of people all over the world,” Shah further said in his tweet.

The world observes International Yoga Day on June 21 every year. It acts as a platform to promote yoga’s holistic approach to physical, mental and spiritual well-being and to spread awareness about the numerous benefits of yoga.

Prime Minister Modi introduced International Yoga Day in his 2014 speech to the UN General Assembly.

Since then, Yoga has gained huge popularity worldwide due to its ability to enhance flexibility, strength, balance and overall fitness.

The theme for Yoga Day this year is “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” which translates to “Yoga for the welfare of all in the form of One World-One Family.” It highlights the ecumenical and inclusive nature of yoga. Programmes linked to yoga will once again be organised everywhere around the nation, as they have been in the past.

It provides a platform for promoting yoga’s all-encompassing approach to one’s physical, mental and spiritual well-being and its many positive effects.

Yoga is good for general well-being as well as problems with mental health. Regular yoga practice lowers stress and relieves depression and anxiety symptoms.

Yoga has demonstrated significant effectiveness in easing the symptoms of anxiety and depression since the pandemic. It emphasises the relationship between the mind and body and aids in emotional management, mood enhancement and mental clarity.
