Bhopal, Aug 20: Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, on Sunday, released the Madhya Pradesh government’s “report card” for the years 2003 to 2023. He said that during this time the BJP government effectively removed the BIMARU category (laggard) label from the state, which he asserted was a legacy of the Congress administration.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan, MP BJP president VD Sharma, and state Home Minister Narottam Mishra were all there as Shah released the government’s “report card” for the past 20 years at a ceremony in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh.

By year’s end, MP is scheduled to hold its assembly elections.

Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh are sometimes referred to by the acronym BIMARU, suggesting that these states have trailed behind in terms of economic growth, healthcare, education, and other metrics.

“Madhya Pradesh came into existence in 1956 and since then, except for five-six years, Congress ruled the state till 2003, but the state remained BIMARU during their regime,” Shah said.

“However, the BJP government has successfully brought the state out of the BIMARU tag and put it on the path of development by implementing various welfare schemes,” he said.

He also asked that the opposition Congress provide a report card of its nearly 53-year reign over the state.

Shah also provided figures to demonstrate that Madhya Pradesh is currently one of the nation’s developed states and complimented CM Chouhan on this accomplishment.

Power, water, and roads were all subpar in the state during the Congress administration, but under the BJP, things have drastically improved, he added.
