“Bapu (Mahatma Gandhi) made us realize the importance of Khadi, but unfortunately, we forgot about it. It’s Gujarat’s son Narendra Bhai (PM Modi), who revived ‘Khadi’ by advancing the idea of Khadi,” said Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Mahathma Gandhi’s death anniversary, in Ahmedabad.

The artwork was created by 75 potters from throughout the country who were brought to Ahmedabad by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).
According to a KVIC official, the mural, which measures 100 square metres, was made by arranging kulhads on an aluminium sheet to depict Mahatma Gandhi’s face.
It will be the country’s only one of its sort, with the first already installed at Palika Kendra in New Delhi.
The KVIC constructed a big stainless steel ‘charkha’ (spinning wheel) near the Sabarmati Riverfront in 2018, which Amit Shah also inaugurated.
