Ranchi, Sept 12: The Jharkhand High Court on Monday heard BJP legislature party chief Babulal Marandi’s petition alleging Assembly Speaker Rabindranath Mahto of being biased.
The petition was heard by the bench of Justice Rajesh Shanker.
In the petition, Marandi alleged the Speaker did not hear the petition related to defection as per rule. He alleged that the Speaker’s tribunal has put the case on judgment without hearing his testimony and arguments.
Those who appeared on behalf of Babulal Marandi in the case included Vijay Pratap Singh, Abhay Mishra, Vinod Sahu, Ranendra Anand and Akash Deep. The high court after hearing the matter deferred further hearing till September 14 with a direction to file supplementary in the matter.
The development took place after a hearing in a defection case involving Marandi ended in the Speaker’s tribunal on August 30.
