Mumbai: In a bizarre turn of events, veteran Bollywood actor Anupam Kher found himself in an unusual situation when counterfeit ₹500 notes featuring his image, instead of Mahatma Gandhi’s, surfaced in Gujarat. The fake currency, totaling ₹1.6 crore, was used to dupe an Ahmedabad bullion trader.

The incident came to light when two unidentified men passed off the fake notes to the trader, shocking many with the image of Anupam Kher replacing Gandhi on the currency. The counterfeit notes also had “Resole Bank of India” printed on them instead of “Reserve Bank of India.” Images of the fake notes quickly went viral on social media, sparking a mix of disbelief and amusement.

Taking the incident in stride, Anupam Kher shared his amusement with his followers on Instagram. Posting a news clip of the fake currency bust, the actor captioned it humorously, “My photo instead of Gandhi’s photo on the note of five hundred???? Anything can happen.”
