Ranchi, Oct 22: Union Minister Arjun Munda on Saturday distributed appointment letters among 284 youths in the state capital after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a Rozgar Mela (job fair) to employ 10 lakh people in various government jobs.

“On the auspicious day of Dhanteras, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Rozgar Mela to give government jobs to 10 lakh youth and handed over appointment letters to 75,000 youth through video conferencing today,” Munda said after the launch.

Modi’s video conference at the CCL Convention Centre was attended by Munda along with other senior state BJP leaders including Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth, Rajya Sabha MP and state BJP President Deepak Prakash, Lohardaga MP Sudarshan Bhagat, Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Prasad Sahu, BJP legislature party leader and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi, Ranchi MLA and former speaker of assembly CP Singh, Kanke MLA Samri Lal, Ranchi Mayor Asha Lakra and deputy mayor Sanjeev Vijaywargiya.

“In the first phase today, 284 people got appointment letters for government jobs from various departments including the Indian Railways, India Post, banking sector and the CRPF,” said Nishant Kumar, Senior DCM of Ranchi rail Division, Indian Railways.

Kumar said that the Rozgar Mela will continue and more youths from Jharkhand will get government jobs in the subsequent stages. The Indian Railways organised the Centre’s job fair event in Ranchi at the premises of the Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL).

Modi, in his speech via video conference today, said that the efficiency of government departments has increased due to the efforts of the Karmayogis. Today, India is the fifth biggest economy because of the reforms undertaken in the last eight years, he said.

The new recruits, selected from across the country, will join 38 ministries/ departments of the Government of India. The appointees will join the government at various levels viz Group – A, Group – B (Gazetted), Group – B (Non-Gazetted) and Group – C. The posts on which appointments are being made include Central Armed Force Personnel, Sub Inspector, Constable, LDC, Steno, PA, Income Tax Inspectors, and MTS among others.

These recruitments are being done in mission mode by ministries and departments either by themselves or through recruiting agencies such as UPSC, SSC and Railway Recruitment Board.

“The Central government is working on multiple fronts simultaneously to create more and more jobs,” said Modi, adding that the government employees should always keep their ‘Kartavya Path’ in mind when in office.

“We decided that a tradition of giving appointment letters in one go should be started so that a collective temperament of completing projects in a time-bound way develops in departments,” Modi said explaining the rationale of the Rozgar Mela.

Modi noted that according to the data that came two days ago, in the month of August this year, about 17 lakh people joined EPFO and have now become a part of the country’s formal economy. He informed that about 8 lakh such people are in the age group of 18 to 25 years.
