New Delhi, Feb 5: The Asia Cup 2023 will probably be held in the UAE rather than Pakistan. The event happened following the Asian Cricket Council meeting, which took place on February 4 in Bahrain. The Asia Cup’s location was not decided at the conference, but it seems likely that Pakistan won’t host the 50-over competition before the 2023 World Cup.

After another ACC meeting, which is anticipated to take place in March, a decision about the Asia Cup hosts will be made. Representatives of the member countries and ACC CEO Jay Shah’s Pakistan Cricket Board attended the conference in Bahrain.

“The ACC had a constructive dialogue on the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. The Board agreed to continue discussions on operations, timelines and any other specifics with a view to ensuring the success of the tournament. An update on the matter would be taken on the next ACC Executive Board Meeting to be held in March 2023,” the ACC said in a statement.

The Asia Cup will take place in September 2023, according to the ACC, which also announced the dates for Asian cricket through the year 2024 but left open the location of the 50-over competition.

Ramiz Raja, the former chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, reacted angrily to the announcement that the Asia Cup will be transferred out of Pakistan made by Indian cricket board (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah last year. Raja had warned that if the Men in Blue decided not to visit Pakistan for the Asia Cup in 2023, Pakistan would boycott the World Cup in India.

The BCCI has insisted that the Indian government will decide whether or not to travel to Pakistan in the future and that it will follow the Center’s decision.
