New Delhi, Aug 22: Shaheen Shah Afridi will be replaced by Mohammad Hasnain in the team for the forthcoming Asia Cup, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Monday.
Hasnain (22) has played for Pakistan in 18 T20 Internationals and claimed 17 wickets throughout those matches. Hasnain will join the team from the United Kingdom, where he is competing in The Hundred for Oval Invincibles.
“Meanwhile, Asif Ali, Haider Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed and Usman Qadir will leave for Dubai in the wee hours of Tuesday. They will replace Abdullah Shafique , Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Haris, Salman Ali Agha and Zahid Mehmood, who were part of the 16-member ODI squad against the Netherlands,” stated an official release.
Shaheen was told to take a break for 4-6 weeks last week, and as a result, was disqualified from the Asia Cup. He would thus also be absent during the home series against England.
On Sunday, August 28, Pakistan will play host to India; on Friday, September 2, Pakistan will play host to a qualifier (one of the following: UAE, Kuwait, Singapore, or Hong Kong).
