Karimganj, July 20: The Assam Police detained six people and recovered a sizable amount of cannabis in the Karimganj district of Assam on Thursday.
In an anti-drug operation, a team from the Nilambazar police station reportedly found 33.5 kg of cannabis on the Nilambazar station road in the Karimganj district. Additionally, police detained six suspects.
Three suspects were taken into custody together with 1 lakh YABA tablets that weighed 10.5 kg earlier on July Wednesday.
Under the supervision of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), the Radhanagar Battalion of the Assam Rifles in the Agartala sector arrested two people earlier on Tuesday and confiscated 103 kg of marijuana worth Rs 41 lakh from Tripura’s Dhalai.
“The team apprehended two individuals along with 103 kg Marijuana worth approximately Rs 41 lakh and seized one light motor vehicle,” the release stated.
