Ayodhya: The Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirath Kshetra Trust, overseeing Ayodhya’s Ram Temple, has chosen to avoid Chinese decorative items this Diwali, opting instead for locally crafted goods. This decision aligns with the “Vocal for Local” initiative, promoting self-reliance and supporting regional artisans, according to an official statement.
The upcoming Deepotsav, Ayodhya’s grand Diwali celebration, will be the first since the temple’s consecration ceremony in January and promises a vibrant display of diyas and traditional decor throughout the temple grounds. “We aim to promote local artisans, local artists, and eco-friendly materials,” commented Ayodhya Commissioner Gaurav Dayal, emphasizing that the decision reflects a commitment to indigenous products.
Security has also been heightened for the event, with nearly 10,000 personnel deployed, half in plain clothes, to ensure a safe celebration. This year’s Deepotsav, scheduled for Wednesday, a day before Diwali, will feature Ram Leela performances and aims to set a Guinness World Record for the most diyas lit simultaneously.
As a special addition, renowned designer Manish Malhotra has been commissioned to design festive outfits for the Ram Lalla idols, blending high fashion with spirituality to mark the occasion.
