Patna: Former Mokama MLA and strongman Anant Singh has been sent to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with the Dularchand Yadav murder case. He has been lodged in Beur Jail, Patna, where authorities have imposed strict restrictions on any outside contact or special privileges.

No Special Facilities, Strict Security in Jail

According to officials, Anant Singh will remain under tight security. As per the jail manual, he does not qualify for high-category prisoner status, meaning he will not receive any special facilities. Visitors have been barred from meeting him during his custody period.

Police sources said that Singh will be questioned further to gather details about the weapons, vehicles, and individuals involved in the incident. Investigators are trying to trace the source of the weapon used and identify others connected to the crime.

Mokama Violence and Murder of Dularchand Yadav

The case stems from a violent clash on October 30 between the convoys of Jan Suraaj Party candidate Piyush Priyadarshi and JDU candidate Anant Singh in the Ghoswari-Bhadour police station area of Mokama. The confrontation turned deadly, leading to the death of 75-year-old Dularchand Yadav, triggering tension across the region.

Following the incident, Anant Singh posted on social media, saying, “Now the people of Mokama will fight the election.”His arrest has drawn renewed attention to the law-and-order situation during the election period.

Security Tightened, Officers Suspended

Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma confirmed that the district has been placed under heightened security. 13 CAPF companies, 2 STF units, and 4 QRT teams have been deployed in the area. The station house officers (SHOs) of Bhadour and Ghoswari have been suspended for negligence. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from the site to identify all those involved.
