Dhanbad, June 11: Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) vice-chancellor Dr Mukul Narayan Dev has set up three member high level committee under Dean of Students Welfare (DSW) Dr Devjani Biswas to probe ‘ Tilak’ fiasco at Pk Roy Memorial College.
As per notification issued by the university on Friday evening beside Dr Devjani Biswas, Proctor Dr Sudhinta Sinha and BSK College Maithon principal Dr Kaushal Kumar are other members. On the basis of committee’s probe the report, university would decide the action.
‘Tilak fiasco triggered major controversy in BBMKU when an examinee Rakesh Kumar Bowri on his Face Book post alleged that on June 4 a teacher ( Dr Mukund Ravidas)at PK Roy Memorial College having seen ‘Tilak’ on his forehead stopped him from entering in examination hall. He was allowed in examination hall only after wiping out ‘Tilak’.
Four days later an outgoing Dean of Huminity Dr Seema Sinha, who is on Europe tour, jumped in support of student and posted the same in WhatsApp group of teachers demanding condemnation from Teachers Association. Though association did not respond her demand, teachers body of the university became a divided house.
The Vice- Chancellor Dr Mukul Narayan Dev, a national acclaimed scientist of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, took Suo-Moto cognizance and formed committee to maintain healthy academic environment of the university.
The student is likely to land in trouble for changing his version and refusing to lodge complaint in written to university authority.
A senior authority of university said that the student met Dr Devjan Biswas and informed that special ‘Yagna’ was performed in the house of his neighbour where he had smeared ‘Tilak’ before going for examination. He also refused to give authority in written about the incident.
But, earlier the student had claimed that a special ‘Yagna’ was performed by a Banaras Pandit in his house on June 4. He had smeared ‘ Tilak ‘ on his forehead which teacher forced him to clean before entering in examination hall. When it was probed, his family members denied having organized ‘Yagna’ by the Banaras Pandit.
Official sources of the university said that Dean of Humanity Seema Sinha, who raked up the issue may also face the action for defaming the face of university. “Student post the allegation in his personal account but Sinha put up that on mass platform (WhatsApp group of teachers). If the present VC Mukul Narayan Dev continues even for a week she may face action too”, said an university official.
