Daltonganj, Sep 11: Bears have injured two people in the Mahuadnr range of the tiger reserve said the ranger Brinda Pandey on Sunday.
Puniya Devi, injured by the bear in her left knee and given first aid in the community health centre Mahuadanr has been discharged. While the other Anand Rohit Tigga who has multiple severe wounds in the head and torso inflicted by 3 bears together is undergoing treatment in the sadar hospital Latehar.

Pandey said Puniya Devi was attacked by a lone bear in the day while Tigga was mauled by 3 bears together.
Mukesh Kumar deputy director South division of PTR said we are noticing a rise in bear attacks these days. He said it may be due to an increase in the population of the bears here. On being asked if there is any census of the bears in the PTR Mukesh Kumar said we do not have any such census as no body has any idea or clue to count bears.
He agreed the attack is a kind of conflict between man and bear. He said the best course of avoiding a bear attack is not to go into the jungles too deep and also never at night.
Ranger Pandey said four bear attacks have occurred in a very short span of time in recent weeks, while this year till September 9 there has been a total of 6 bear attacks with one death of the victim of the bear attack.
