Bengaluru: In a chilling twist to the murder of dermatologist Dr Kruthika Reddy, police have revealed that her husband, Dr Mahendra Reddy GS, who is accused of killing her with anaesthesia on April 24, sent messages to at least four to five women after the murder, including one that read, “I killed my wife for you.”
Murder and Digital Trail
According to investigators, Mahendra, 32, allegedly administered anaesthetic drugs to his 29-year-old wife Kruthika before killing her at their Bengaluru home. Weeks later, he reached out to several women, including a medical professional who had earlier rejected him. Police say the message was sent through the digital-payment app PhonePe after the woman had blocked him on all other platforms. His mobile phone and laptop have been seized and are being examined by forensic experts, who confirmed the message was sent from his account.
Multiple Proposals and False Death Claim
Further investigation uncovered that Mahendra had previously been in touch with a Mumbai-based woman to whom he had proposed marriage. When she refused, he made his father call her claiming Mahendra had died in an accident. However, in September 2025, Mahendra contacted her again, saying he had faked his death and that his astrological chart had predicted his “first wife would die.” He told the woman that since Kruthika was now dead, he wanted to marry her.
Ongoing Probe and Police Statement
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Whitefield) K Parashurama confirmed the messages were genuine and part of the investigation. Police have recorded the woman’s statement and clarified that she has no connection to the crime. Mahendra was arrested on October 14 from Manipal, Udupi district, and remains in custody as the probe continues into what officers are calling a case of “narcissistic obsession turned homicidal.”
