Muzaffarpur, Sept 14: A major boat accident has occurred in Muzaffarpur. A boat full of 30 school children has sunk in the Bagmati River. 20 children have been taken out safely whereas others are still reported missing. There was an outcry in the area after the incident.
After the news spread, a crowd of people gathered. After this, the local people informed the Gaighat and Beniabad OP police. After receiving the information, police reached the spot and engaged in relief work with the help of local people. The SDRF (State Disaster Response Fund) team was also called and they reached there and initiated the rescue efforts.
This boat accident took place in the Bagmati River located near Madhurpatti Ghat in the Beniabad OP area of Gaighat police station. According to the information, around 10 o’clock a boat was coming carrying school children and other people. The current of the river suddenly became stronger and the boat went out of control and started sinking. Within no time the boat filled with water and it capsized. The children and other people in the boat also drowned. Many children were saved with the help of local people. However many are still missing.
