Patna: In a major pre-election move, the Bihar Cabinet on Tuesday approved an increase in salaries and allowances for state ministers and deputy ministers. The decision was finalized during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, which cleared a total of 27 agenda items.
As per the revised structure, the monthly salary of ministers has been raised from ₹50,000 to ₹65,000. Their regional allowance has been increased from ₹55,000 to ₹70,000. Daily allowances have been hiked from ₹3,000 to ₹3,500, while hospitality allowance has been revised from ₹24,000 to ₹29,500. Additionally, travel allowance for official journeys has been increased from ₹15 to ₹25 per kilometre.
The Cabinet also approved multiple administrative proposals:
• 2,590 posts sanctioned in the Agriculture Department.
• 48 new positions created in the Excise and Prohibition Department.
• 35 data entry operator posts approved for the Staff Selection Commission.
• The Bihar Education Administration Service Rules, 2025 received official approval.
• Dr. Ramraj Raman was dismissed from service.
