Patna, July 26: Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday morning. He has been ill for a few days, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s office, and is currently being isolated at home.
“He is unwell for the last two to three days. He got himself tested on Monday and he was found to be Covid positive,” reads the statement.
“The chief minister has appealed to all those who came in his contact during past two three days to get themselves tested,” the statement added.
A day after missing President Droupadi Murmu’s inauguration, which led to rumours of a potential NDA rift, he received his diagnosis. There was a rumour that the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Bihar CM’s ally, was not delighted.
Beginning with the July 17 CMs’ meeting on concerns relating to the national flag, which was convened by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Kumar had missed three significant back-to-back central meetings or events. Nitish also declined to attend the farewell dinner event that Prime Minister Modi threw for outgoing President Ram Nath Kovind on July 22.
