Patna, Sept 1: Danapur court on Thursday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of former state law minister Kartikeya Singh. He allegedly has an outstanding arrest warrant against him in a kidnapping case.

Earlier, he has resigned from his position, hours after being transferred from the Law Ministry to the Sugarcane Industry Ministry.

His resignation has been received and forwarded to the governor by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. According to the BJP, Kartikeya is suspected of being involved in an abduction case for which he is wanted. The appointment of RJD MLC Kartikeya Singh as Bihar’s law minister resulted in huge controversy.

Earlier in the day, he denied any involvement in such a case and said that the opposition does not tolerate him as a minister because he belongs to the Bhumihars community.

“BJP couldn’t tolerate a minister from the Bhumihars community. They want to tarnish my image, I’ve been a govt teacher for 28 yrs. I trust the judiciary and hope to get justice. I resigned because all of it was tarnishing the image of our govt,” he said.
