Motihari, Dec 24: An explosion in the chimney of a brick kiln in Motihari resulted in the deaths of nine labourers. Several others were reported to be injured in the incident which took place in the Ramgarhwa police station area in Narirgir.
The rescue operation is in progress, and there were many police teams and a State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team on the scene.
The injured were admitted to a local hospital, according to the district administration.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed grief and extended condolences over the incident.
“The explosion of the chimney on a brick kiln at the East Champaran district’s Ramgarhwa police station is a tragic tragedy. The families of the deceased have my sincere condolences. For the injured, proper care must be administered in accordance with instructions. I hope they get well soon,” he tweeted.

PM Modi also expressed grief and announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakhs from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund to the next of kin of each victim and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
