Patna: The Bihar Special Task Force (STF) has achieved a major breakthrough by arresting two notorious Maoists who had been on the run for nearly 14 years, marking a significant success in the state’s anti-Naxal operations.
Coordinated Raids Across Two Districts
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a special STF team conducted simultaneous raids in two districts. Maoist leader Ram Pravesh Baitha was arrested from Koriya village under the Madhuban police station area in East Champaran district, while Suresh Sahni, also known as “Suresh Pagla,” was apprehended from Karariya village under the Shyampur Bhattha police station in Sheohar district.
Multiple Serious Criminal Cases
According to police officials, both arrested Maoists are prime accused in a serious case registered at Minapur police station in Muzaffarpur district. In addition, they face multiple charges across several districts of Bihar, including murder, extortion, levy collection, and involvement in Naxalite violence. Despite sustained efforts by district police units over the years, the duo had repeatedly managed to evade arrest until this operation.
