Ranchi, Aug 3: The enrollment process for MSc in Quantitative Economics and Data Science at BIT Mesra is to begin in September. Admission to this five-year integrated course will be taken on the basis of JEE scores under the Central Seat Allotment Board and Joint Seat Allotment Authority.

Under the New Education Policy, after three years, if students want, they can leave the course with a bachelor’s degree. This course began in BIT last year with a total of 30 seats. This time, too, applications will be sought for 30 admissions.

Dr Manish Kumar Pandey, Faculty, Department of Data Science, said that the students are explained about the subject through all the data being generated in different areas of economics. With the help of the data, planning for development or solving problems is explained in detail.

“The course takes the student through the applications of modern economics and data science to a higher level step by step. The three-year undergraduate course lays out the fundamentals. At the same time, the postgraduate course offers specialization in key areas such as global finance, forecasting, data mining and big data analytics,” Prof Pandey added.
