BIT Sindri team reaches in finals of Aero Thon 2023 national competition

Dhanbad Aug 12: The 10-member team of SAE India BIT Sindri has reached the final rounds of the prestigious Aero Thon 2023 national competition on Uncrewed Aircraft System (UAS), a mark of supremacy among engineering students across the country.

Aero Thon 2023 competition has been organized by SAE India Aerospace Forum in collaboration with  Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan on developing design, construction and flight of  uncrewed aircraft system.
The 10-member team ‘Vayu BITS of SAE India BIT Sindri chapter comprised Anil Kumar (captain), Kumar Satyam Saurabh (vice- captain), Rahul Kumar, Shivam Mishra, Ravi Kumar, Saron Ekka, Ritesh Raunak, Adesh Modak, Nidhi Sharma and Kumar Priyam.

BIT Sindri director Dr Ghanshyam has congratulated the team members for their outstanding performance in first round of national competition and qualifying for finals.

“I am thrilled to extend my heartiest congratulations for your remarkable achievement in Aero Thon 2023 competition. The performance shows your unwavering dedication, collaborative spirit and innovative thinking,” said Dr Ghanshyam in his message to team Vayu BITS.

Over 100 premier engineering colleges and institutions of the country participated in this national competition in which only 20 of them have qualified for the 2nd stage.  Only four of the 10-member team of an institution is allowed to participate.

In the first stage of competition, a team has to give its innovative design and technical presentation on Flight of Uncrewed Aircraft System.  In the 2nd phase, the team has to give presentation of flight test.

The winner team of this competition would get cash award of Rs 150,000 as first prize, Rs 100,000 as 2nd prize and Rs 75,000 as 3rd prize. A special prize of Rs 25,000 would be also given.
Notably, earlier on August 9, BIT Sindri teams had bagged 1st and 2nd prize in NBC Idea Factory session organized by National Engineering Industries Limited Jaipur.

“This victory propels you as true pioneers of to redefine aerospace possibilities,” the director told the team members.
