Amritsar, April 17: BJP politician Balwinder Gill, the general secretary of the party’s SC section, was shot at and wounded at Jandiala Guru, about 25 kilometres away from here, said the police on Monday.
Gill was shot at point-blank range in his home on Sunday night by an unnamed assailant who had his face covered, according to Superintendent of Police Jugraj Singh.
Gill was wounded in the jaw and was transferred right away to a neighbouring hospital. Gill was later transferred to a private hospital in Amritsar as his health deteriorated, Singh added.
The SP claimed that the attacker also had a companion who was standing outside the home of the BJP leader.
He claimed that numerous police teams were investigating the incident and had gathered crucial information from the incident’s spot.
