Ranchi, May 19: BJP state spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo today released a video of former MLA Rajkumar Yadav saying that the ruling party has decided to terminate assembly membership of Babulal Marandi at any cost.

He said that on May 17, 2022, during the hearing of Babulal Marandi’s defection case in the Speaker’s tribunal, petitioner Rajkumar Yadav is seen saying ‘Babulal gayo, judgment ho gayo’,  Shahdeo quoted Yadav saying.

Shahdeo said that the video suggests that Yadav is not only the plaintiff but also a judge as even before the judgment, he knows what the judgment is about to come.  He said that the incident happened during the hearing of the Speaker’s Tribunal which was also telecast by Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha TV.

Shahdeo said that it was expected that the speaker would take strict action on the matter but it seems that he is avoiding the matter.

“This is not a good sign for democracy. The Speaker’s tribunal is an independent body, but perception is being created in the state that everything is happening on the script written by the state government. One of the oldest principles of law is that justice should not only be done but it should appear to be happening,” Shahdeo said.

Shahdeo said it was not the first time such a situation had come. He said earlier the chief minister while talking to reporters at Project Bhawan on July 17, 2020 had said that the BJP would yearn for the post of Leader of Opposition. Even at that time, the matter was pending in the Speaker’s Tribunal and it appeared that the Chief Minister was trying to put pressure on the Speaker’s Tribunal.
