Bokaro: DPS students excel in state swimming championship

Dhanbad, June 29: Students of Delhi Public School (DPS) in Boakro made their mark in the 12th state junior and sub-junior swimming championship by winning nine medals in different events in their maiden appearance.

The school official said that the 13 member team from the institution not only won medals but also impressed the gathering from their outstanding performance.

Four students of the school Aarav kumar, Anushka  Yashi,  Ridhi Rajput and Shail Priya won double medals in the championship. School officials said they missed the silver medal by a whisker.

DPS Bokaro principal AS Gangwar while highly appreciating the performance of his students congratulated them for the success in maiden entry.

“It is indeed encouraging to see students develop holistically and bringing laurels to their school not only in the field of academics but also in co-curricular activities. I hope they will continue to work hard and perform better in future,” he said.

The students who brought laurels to the school are Pragyan Kumar (bronze medal in 100 meter backstroke), Aarav Kumar (bronze medal in 50 meter backstroke and 200 meter freestyle), Anushka Yashi (bronze medal in 4 x 50 meter medley relay and 4 x 50 meter Freestyle relay) , Ridhi Rajput (bronze medal in 4 x 50 meter medley relay and 4 x 50 meter freestyle relay) and Shaili Priya ( bronze medal in 4 x 50 meter medley relay and 4 x 50 meter freestyle relay).

A total of 205 swimmers from 17 districts of the state participated in the championship.
