Mumbai, July 4: The former flatmate of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, Siddharth Pithani, who was detained in a drug case connected to the actor’s death, was granted bail by the Bombay High Court on Monday.
Rhea Chakraborty, who is currently free on bond, is also an accused in this case. Siddharth Pithani was granted bail by Justice Bharati Dangre’s sole bench in exchange for a 50,000 rupee bond.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) detained Pithani in Hyderabad in May 2021. He is currently being held by authorities.
He had been arrested on several counts, including violating section 27 (A) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (funding illicit commerce and housing offenders). In his request for bail, Pithani said he had been falsely accused.
In his plea, he stated that he had never been caught with any drugs in his hands and that nothing had been found on him that may have indicated he was involved in drug trafficking.
Notably on June 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput allegedly committed suicide in his Mumbai home. Later, the NCB launched an investigation into an alleged drug supply network in the film business based on several WhatsApp chats.
Additionally, the NCB had detained other individuals, including Rhea Chakraborty. Currently, most of them are free on bail.
