New Delhi, Feb 1: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced Prime Minister’s Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PM–PVTG) Development mission on Wednesday to improve the social-economic condition of particularly tribal groups and saturate PVTG habitations with basic facilities.

“PM-PVTG development missions are being launched to improve socio-economic conditions of the particularly vulnerable tribal groups,” the finance minister announced.

“An amount of Rs 15,000 crore will be made available to implement the mission in the next three years,” she added.

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman suggested starting a programme to reinforce the socioeconomic standing of tribal tribes who are particularly vulnerable.

In her presentation of the Union Budget for 2023–24 to Parliament, she announced that Rs 15,000 crore would be made available to carry out the PM–PVTG development mission over the following three years under the Development Action Plan for Scheduled Tribes.

This will saturate PVTG families and habitations with basic facilities such as safe housing, clean drinking water and sanitation, improved access to health, education, nutrition, road and telecom connectivity and sustainable livelihood opportunity, the Finance Minister said.
