New Delhi, Jan 31: President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday addressed both Houses of Parliament in the Central Hall to start the Budget Session.
“My government believes that remembering the past and learning from it is critical for the country’s future,” he stated.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union budget for the fiscal year 2022-23 on February 1. The Lok Sabha Budget Session is set to expire on April 8, with the first portion of the session running till February 11, according to the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
“I bow down to the lakhs of freedom fighters who prioritised their duties and helped India get its rights. I also respectfully remember the personalities who contributed to the development journey of India in the 75 years of independence,” said President Ram Nath Kovind.
The President praised the efforts of every frontline health worker and citizen in the fight against COVID-19, noting that more than 90% of adult individuals in the country have gotten one dose of the vaccine, and more than 70% have received both.
“Many lives lost due to COVID. Even in such circumstances our Centre, States, doctors, nurses, scientists, our healthcare workers worked as a team…I am thankful to our health care and frontline workers,” he said.
