New Delhi, Jan 31: President Droupadi Murmu addressed today both houses of Parliament, before the start of the 2023 budget session. President Droupadi Murmu today said India has a ‘fearless, decisive government today’ as she addressed parliament on the opening of the Budget session.

“The government will complete nine years soon. The biggest change today is that every Indian is at the peak of their confidence. Today, India is becoming a solution to the world’s problems,” President Murmu said in her address.

“Today India has a stable, fearless, decisive government that can work to fulfil big dreams. Today India has a government that respects the honest and works to solve the problems of the poor and empower them permanently,” she added.

From surgical strike to strict action against terrorism, giving befitting response on LoC and LAC, to abrogating Article 370 in J&K and abolishing Triple Talaq, this government's identity has been that of a decisive one: President Murmu

“Today, India’s self-confidence is at its highest and the world is looking at her from a different perspective. India is providing solutions to the world,” she further added.

President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar greeted PM Narendra Modi, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and other MPs after concluding the President’s Address to the joint sitting of the Parliament.

In a formal procession, the President arrived at Parliament House this morning. After taking office in July of last year, this was President Murmu’s first speech to the combined session of the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha members.

She gave an acceptance speech in the Central Hall of Parliament shortly after taking the oath.

The President traditionally addresses the two Houses in Central Hall at the start of the first Parliamentary session of the year.

Meanwhile, the opposition parties are prepared to criticise the government on a number of topics, such as the Adani-Hindenburg dispute, while the Centre maintained that it was open to address any topic that was permitted by the rules. Following the President’s presentation on Tuesday, the Economic Survey will also be presented.
