New Delhi, Aug 19: Manish Sisodia’s home was searched by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in relation to the controversy over the excise policy today. Additionally, searches are being carried out in six additional states and 21 locations around the National Capital Region (NCR) including premises of the then Delhi Excise Commissioner Arava Gopi Krishna.

Manish Sisodia has since tweeted to deny all accusations and to pledge his cooperation in the probe. Sisodia criticised the harassment of performers throughout the nation, calling it regrettable.

— Manish Sisodia (@msisodia) August 19, 2022

— Manish Sisodia (@msisodia) August 19, 2022

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief of the AAP and the chief minister of Delhi, responded to the raid by saying that the party welcomes the CBI and that there had previously been raids on other party leaders, but nothing has come of those. According to him, raids are being carried out on the health and education ministries since the world is praising Delhi’s health and educational models.

AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj reacting to the raids said, “We welcome CBI and other agencies that PM Modi has including ED, Income tax. This is not the first case of the raid on AAP leaders, but the question is what do these agencies recover? They should tell people if anything was ever recovered anywhere.”

Delhi will return to the previous excise system on September 1 for a period of six months. Following a significant uproar over its new alcohol law, the AAP government in the nation’s capital opted to reinstate the previous excise policy, which forbade private companies from operating in the market.

On August 31, nine months after it was put into place, the excise policy that now governs how the city’s private liquor vends are operated comes to an end. Only Delhi government corporations will be permitted to operate retail liquor stores as of September 1.
The new policy had fundamentally altered how alcohol was sold in the nation’s capital, with the government leaving the retail market and turning everything over to private companies. Additionally, it introduced one-for-one deals, refunds, and discounts on alcoholic beverages.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Anurag Thakur hit out at AAP and Manish Sisodia saying, ” Arvind Kejriwal should stop treating people as fools, & should stop addressing the people of the country. Delhi CM did not even suspend Satyendar Jain when he went to jail. AAP, Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia‘s real face has come in front of the public today.”

“No matter how hard a corrupt person tries to prove himself innocent, he will still remain corrupt. This is not the first case of corruption by AAP. There has been huge corruption in the liquor stores in Delhi,” he added.
