New Delhi, Nov 8: In connection with an ongoing investigation into a case involving the Jammu and Kashmir Police Sub-Inspector (JKPSI) recruitment scam, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches at seven locations across three states on Tuesday.

At the homes of the accused and other case participants, searches were conducted in Jammu, Pathankot, Rewari, and Karnal.

The Jammu and Kashmir government had asked the CBI to open an investigation into claims of anomalies in the written test that the J-K Services Selection Board (JKSSB) had administered on March 27, 2022, in order to choose 1,200 Sub-Inspectors for the Jammu and Kashmir Police. On June 4, 2022, the results of this examination were announced.

In this case, 13 defendants were previously detained, including the BSF Commandant, one former ASI and two former constables of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, one former CRPF constable, one former CRPF official, and one former instructor.

Additionally, searches were done at and near 77 places, including the offices of the JKSSB’s then-chairman and controller. A total of about Rs 61.79 lakh in cash has been recovered.

During the investigation, it was discovered that the accused Yatin Yadav, who is currently in judicial custody, allegedly leaked the question paper with the assistance of a printing press employee.

Additionally, it was claimed that the defendant made contact with touts headquartered in J-K, including J-K Police and CRPF constables, in order to recruit applicants who were charged between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 30 lakh (approximately) for the paper.

The candidates allegedly travelled to Karnal, Haryana, and were given a question paper at a hotel there. Candidates at Gangyal and Jammu apparently received the leaked exam paper as well.

Further investigation underway.
