CBI raids TMC MLA Subodh Adhikari’s house in chit-fund scam case

Kolkata, Sept 4: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) searched various places in North 24 Parganas on Sunday, including the residence of Bijpur TMC MLA Subodh Adhikari, in connection with the Halishahar municipality chairman’s chit fund scandal.

A CBI delegation also paid a visit to the home of Kamal Adhikari, Subodh Adhikari’s brother and the chairman of Kanchrapara Municipality. Since Sunday am, six teams have been conducting raids in Halishahar and Kanchrapara in North 24 Parganas.

Notably, the CBI detained Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and Halisahar Municipality Chairman Raju Sahani on Friday in connection with a chit fund scam. The investigation agency recovered Rs 80 lakh in cash and documents pertaining to properties worth Rs 2.75 crore.
