New Delhi, March 21: General Bipin Rawat, India’s first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) has been awarded the Padma Vibhushan posthumously the country’s second-highest civilian honour, on Monday.
At the Rashtrapati Bhavan, his daughters Kritika Rawat and Tarini Rawat received the award from President Ram Nath Kovind on his behalf.

Notably, the army chopper crash in Coonoor on December 8, killed the Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 others.
The Home Ministry had announced the Padma Awards on the eve of 73rd Republic Day.
