Patna, March 15: Centre has issued prosecution sanction against three retired bureaucrats in connection with the Rs 5.5 crore Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) post-matriculation scholarship scam unearthed seven years ago in Bihar,  informed the sources.

On the state government’s order, a case was filed in November 2016 against K P Ramaia, SM Raju, Ramashish Paswan, and 13 others for alleged anomalies in the disbursement of the scholarship to SC and ST students pursuing technical education outside Bihar. A special vigilance court is currently hearing the matter.

Ramaiah was the head of the Mahadalit Commission, which looked after the Dalit castes’ poorest members. Following his voluntary retirement, Ramaiah ran for Lok Sabha from Sasaram as a Janata Dal (United) candidate in 2014.

In this case, the charge sheet has been filed against 10 accused and the investigation is going on against bureaucrat Ravi Manubhai Parmar.
