New Delhi, Sept 25: The Chandigarh Airport will be renamed in honour of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced today on his monthly radio address Mann Ki Baat. The action is perceived as the BJP outdoing the Aam Aadmi Party in the battle for the martyred legend’s legacy.

“As a tribute to the great freedom fighter, it has been decided that the Chandigarh airport will now be named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh,” PM Modi said.

Notably, with great pomp and ceremony, the Punjab Chief Minister began his tenure by paying symbolic homage to the legendary freedom fighter. At Khatkar Kalan, Bhagat Singh’s ancestral hamlet, AAP hosted Bhagwant Mann’s swearing-in ceremony. The colour “Basanti (yellow)” covered the entire space.

In the broadcast, Modi praised BJP ideologist Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, calling him a great son of the nation and a deep thinker. Modi added that the comeback of cheetahs had caused 130 crore Indians to feel a sense of pride. He stated that a task force will keep an eye on them, and the timing for public viewing will be determined in light of that.

He declared that September 28th, when the birth anniversary of Bhagat Singh will be observed, will be a significant day of “Amrit Mahotsav.”

“Just before his birth anniversary, as a tribute, an important decision has been taken, it has been decided that the Chandigarh airport will now be named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh,” he said.
