Chandil, Oct 15: In the ongoing campaign against illicit businesses and substance abuse in the district the Chowka police on Saturday night apprehended two individuals with a thousand kilograms of illegal scrap and seized a Tata Magic Tempo.

As a result of their relentless efforts, the police are consistently achieving success.

Significant blows have been dealt to various major drug-related operations, and unlawful businesses are also facing strict enforcement. This has created an atmosphere of fear among those involved in such illicit activities. Under the directives of District Police Chief (SP) Dr Vimal Kumar, all police precincts are actively carrying out their duties.

Abhishek Pratap, the in-charge of the Chauka police station, explained that the police were patrolling on the Chauka-Kandra road. During this patrol, a tempo travelling on the road near Palgam More was stopped and inspected during the night. During the search, scrap was found in the tempo. When the driver and another person aboard the vehicle were asked for documents related to the scrap, they could not produce any relevant paperwork.

Further investigation revealed that the scrap was being transported unlawfully. The police formally seized the tempo along with the scrap and arrested both individuals. The police are currently conducting an inquiry into the case. They are working to determine where the scrap was sourced, where it was destined, and who is involved in this operation. They mentioned that the police will soon uncover the depths of this business.
