New Delhi, June 9: Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi while he was in India to talk about the future of AI in India and its drawbacks. When speaking at the Digital India Dialogues event at IIIT Delhi, Altman revealed details of his encounter with Modi. He said the Prime Minister’s meeting was nice since Modi was very enthusiastic and thoughtful about artificial intelligence (AI).
Altman said that the meeting was fantastic and enjoyable as he expressed his happiness with it. He valued Modi’s passion and his insightful observations on the advantages of AI. Altman also questioned India’s early and enthusiastic adoption of ChatGPT, an AI chatbot from OpenAI. Modi responded admirably.

Altman and PM Modi spoke on the potential and opportunities for AI in India as well as the necessity for regulations to handle this new technology’s drawbacks. Altman reported that they discussed the prospects for the nation, the efforts that needed to be taken by India, and the significance of international norms to avoid unfavourable outcomes.
Altman showed his respect for India’s technological advancements on a global scale. He admitted that ChatGPT is quite well-liked in India, where many early adopters are using the AI chatbot.
“It was great. It was really fun. He was so enthusiastic, really thoughtful about AI, and the benefits of it. We asked why India has embraced ChatGPT so much and so early. It’s really been fun for us to watch. He had great answers about that, “Altman said.
Altman said that “the government should focus on integrating AI technology into various services, particularly by utilizing Language-Learning Models (LLMs) to enhance government services.”
Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar remarked on Altman’s position on AI regulation that he is a smart individual with his own opinions on the matter. He stated that India also has intelligent minds with unique viewpoints on how to create AI safety measures.
Chandrasekhar noted that while Altman is in favour of the notion of an AI-based United Nations, India will put its citizens’ needs first and make sure the internet is secure and reliable.
