Daltonganj, Feb 2: The union budget for the financial year 2022 -23 presented by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman mentioned that 1.5 lakh post offices in India will double up as banks.
There have been many praises and criticisms of this budget, but none have found this scheme of post offices functioning as banks to be particularly beneficial or useful.
However, Chatra BJP MP Sunil Kr Singh has lauded the move of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government in a statement to the press through his private secretary Prabhu Dayal Yadav and his constant political companion Amit Tiwary.
Welcoming post offices to act as banks, Chatra BJP MP Sunil Kr Singh maintained that there are many villages in Chatra, Latehar and Palamu districts where there is no bank but post offices are present.
Due to this new resolution, rural people will now have an opportunity to access banking facilities in the post offices like net banking, mobile banking, ATM facility, digital transfer of money between nationalised banks and post offices.
The MP is confident that post offices would now be friendlier to the farmers and senior citizens.
He further said that this modernisation of post offices to work on the pattern of banks will help retain their workforce in the right direction.
The MP went on to talk about mota anaj (coarse grain). He has maintained that the year 2023 has been dedicated to mota anaj year. These coarse grains to name a few are jwar, bajra, madua etc which are considered as nutritious and can offer a tough competition to the varied packed food.
Sources said during the first wave of the Coronavirus there was a deluge of food and grains that were claimed to boost immunity and then it was felt that coarse grains can do wonders.
The MP maintained that a concerted thrust on the mota anaj will help bolster the intake of food among the poor and the rich alike.
“Drones have been seen as something to keep a third eye from the sky on activities threatening to India but now onwards there will be ‘kisan drones’ which will serve many purposes of the farmers like status of crops, drought impact, crop loss and its insurance cover,” said MP Sunil Kumar Singh.
