Chatra, Oct 1: The central government approved the Chatra-Gaya rail project which will be built on a budget of Rs 5,452 crore on Saturday. The central government will release Rs 926 crore for land acquisition to construct the 93.345 km long rail project.
While giving the information, Chatra MP Sunil Singh said the letters sent by rail minister Ashwini Vaishnav to him and deputy commissioner Abu Imran confirmed that the government has given final clearance to this project.
Sources said this was a big demand of the Chatra people since independence. Even agitations also took place from time to time to get Chatra connected by rail line.
Singh said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will come to Chatra soon to lay the foundation stone for this ambitious project. He said the long-awaited dream of the people of his constituency is now going to be fulfilled. He informed that this rail line will have 197 bridges, over bridges and tunnels.
Simaria MLA Kishun Kumar Das said this project once completed will result in the speedy and overall development of this place.
As the news about clearance for the rail project reached people, they started the celebration by bursting crackers. A resident of Mayurhund, Manoj Kumar said they want completion of this project on war foot.
“Chatra is finally getting clearance for this project which is several decades old. However, this project is important as it will be a milestone in the development of Chatra,” said Manoj, a businessman.
