Chatra, June 5: Police have got success in a case of assault and firing at the railway bridge construction site on May 31 arresting three extremists of the Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC). ISC Project Pvt Ltd was constructing the bridge on a river in Phulwaria under the Tandwa police station. In this attack, extremists had set ablaze an expensive excavator machine before leaving the spot.
Seeing the seriousness of this case, Chatra SP Rakesh Ranjan formed a special investigation team headed by Tandwa subdivisional police officer Shambhu Kumar Singh. The team probed the case and took the help of the technical cell to reach those behind this incident.
The team arrested three extremists involved in the incident who are identified as Manoj Kumar Ganjhu, Arjun Bhokta and Sanjay Kumar Ganjhu. Singh said that the main role in this incident is of Prem Ganjhu who was making threat calls to the local coal traders and companies. Police are trying to arrest him, he added.
Police have seized TSPC sub-zonal committee pamphlet, a motorcycle used in the incident and 3 mobiles from the arrested extremists.
Singh said that the arrested extremists have provided a lot of information to the police. At the same time, it was told that Prem Ganjhu was making calls under the pseudonym Prabhat Ji. He was continuously demanding extortion from the companies and coal traders working in this area in the name of the TSPC organization. Prem Ganjhu is a resident of Saraiya village in the Latehar district. There are 12 extremists behind the attack of May 31 and police are trying to arrest all those who are at large including Prem, added Singh.
