Chatra, June 1: The Piparwar police have arrested two people, including Central Coalfield Limited’s Kanta Babu and sent them to jail on Wednesday in the firing incident in the Purnadih Coal Mines of Piparwar police station area. The duo was charged with passing information related to the extremist outfit Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC).  The two are identified as Chandu Munda who is working as Kanta Babu at CCL’s Purnadih coal mines, a resident of Chakme under Budmu police station in Ranchi and Madha Ganjhu a.k.a Prabhat Kumar who is a resident of Benti village of Piparwar.

Sources said that a firing took place on coal lifter Vinod Giri on May 6 near this coal project injuring him critically. The police investigation confirmed the involvement of TSPC extremists led by its area commander Chotan Turi a.k.a Abhay. The police arrested Abhay and two other extremists a few days ago. Through the diary of Abhay, police came to know about those who were supporting TSPC including CCL’s Kanta Babu.

The police came to know that Kanta Babu was making the official documents related to coal lifting available to TSPC. Due to this, extremists were getting all the information about coal lifting from various parties resulting in threatening calls to them. The firing of Vinod Giri was also associated with it. Whereas arrested Prabhat was helping the TSPC in collecting the levy. Till now the police have sent five people to jail in this case.

Officer-in-charge of Piparwar police station, Gobind Kumar said CCL worker Kanta Babu Chandu Munda was arrested for providing all the information of CCL to the TSPC, an extremist organisation. In this case, on May 27 also, the Piparwar police had arrested three extremists, including TSPC area commander Abhay ji a.k.a Chhotan Turi with illegal weapons and sent them to jail. Through Abhay, we came to know about Kanta Babu, he added.

Police officials said they came across a number of facts related to this case. Few more arrests are to take place in this case, they added.
