Raipur, Sept 2: In Chhattisgarh’s Raipur, two sisters were subjected to a gang rape while returning from celebrating Raksha Bandhan with one of the victim’s fiance. The distressing incident occurred when a group of ten attackers forcefully obstructed their path and committed the heinous assault.
Three of the accused allegedly caught them when they were returning, according to the police. They were allegedly robbed of money and cell phones by the trio. The other seven suspects arrived at the scene on four motorcycles. The accused allegedly raped the two sisters after taking them to an isolated place away from the main road in the meantime.
Serious assault was also meted out to the man who was with the two girls.
Upon receiving the information, the police filed a case and subsequently apprehended ten individuals, one of whom is the son of a prominent local BJP leader.
A number of the accused have a history of criminal activity, and one of the main suspects, Poonam Thakur, was just recently freed on bail in August 2023. Laxmi Narayan Singh, a prominent BJP figure in the area, is the father of Poonam Thakur.
