Patna, Aug 9: Just after Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, announced his resignation, breaking the state’s partnership with the BJP, former LJP leader Chirag Paswan challenged him to run for office again in the state’s upcoming midterm elections.

Chirag Paswan also called for the President’s Rule to be imposed in Bihar, accusing Nitish Kumar of violating the people’s mandate for the second time.

“He was reduced to just 43 seats in the last elections, will win zero next time,” said Paswan.

He also claimed that Nitish Kumar’s attitude was to blame for Bihar’s problems. Son of former union minister Ram Vilas Paswan, asserted that the Bihar Chief Minister has no moral standards and that he has done nothing to advance the state’s growth. He also lacks credibility.

“I had warned before the Vidhan Sabha elections that Nitish Kumar ji can turn back anytime after the elections. Today, it seems that day has come,” he added.

Paswan, who ran candidates in every seat contested by the JD(U), whose vote total fell from over 70 five years ago to under 45, in the 2020 assembly elections, had yesterday reacted angrily to the phrase “Chirag model” created by Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan, the party’s current national president.

In response to Lalan Singh’s accusation, Paswan stated that he had previously informed the BJP that he would be running unopposed because he “cannot cooperate with Nitish Kumar at any cost.”
