Jamshedpur, Aug 12: The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has decided to act tough against rogue builders.

The civic body has resumed its crackdown on builders who are going ahead with projects that deviate from or blatantly violate approved plans.

The JNAC which looks after civic amenities in its jurisdiction is not only sealing such rogue residential and commercial premises but also stopping construction at sites where violations have been reported.

On Wednesday, the civic outfit suspended construction of a multi-storey building at New Baradwari near Sakchi.

The real estate developer didn’t meet the setback  – the distance of a building from a road,  that needs protection criterion.

The civic body has decided to initiate a similar drive in Sonari, Kadma, Bistupur and other places.

“We are getting several complaints of deviations and other violations in building plans. Hence, we have decided to act. We will also serve notices to builders executing high-rise projects against the provisions of building plans, ” said an official of JNAC.

He said they can also go to the extent of lodging FIRs against rogue builders.

On Tuesday, the JNAC had sealed two buildings at Sakchi where builders had added extra floors without sanction.

Sources said the JNAC had identified several such buildings in Dhatkidih that had flouted the rule.

The civic body has also started serving notices to building owners in Sakchi and Bistupur for allowing commercial activities in basements, which are meant for parking vehicles.
