Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday honored the state’s emerging cricket sensation, 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, at his residence. Recognized as a “Wonder Boy,” Vaibhav has impressed cricket enthusiasts with his outstanding performance in the U-19 Asia Cup, where he scored back-to-back fifties for India.

CM Nitish felicitated Vaibhav with a shawl and extended his heartfelt congratulations. He praised the young cricketer’s talent and wished him continued success in his future endeavors.

BCA’s Contribution Highlighted

The Chief Minister also honored Rakesh Kumar Tiwari, President of the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA), acknowledging the association’s efforts in identifying and nurturing hidden talents like Vaibhav. “BCA has brought such remarkable talent to the forefront, making Bihar proud. The government will continue to make every effort to support the future of all talented players,” said Kumar.

Vaibhav’s Record-Breaking Journey

Vaibhav, who hails from Samastipur, Bihar, has already achieved significant milestones in his cricketing career. At just 13 years and 188 days, he became the youngest cricketer to score an international century during a youth Test match against the Australia U-19 team.

In the recent IPL mega auction, Rajasthan Royals secured Vaibhav for an impressive ₹1.10 crore. Under the mentorship of legendary cricketer Rahul Dravid, Vaibhav will hone his skills in preparation for the IPL and beyond.

Gathering of Dignitaries

The felicitation ceremony witnessed the presence of notable figures, including BCA President Rakesh Kumar Tiwari, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Vijay Sinha, Vijay Chaudhary, and Vaibhav’s father, Sanjeev Suryavanshi.
