CM Yogi suspends 15 officials over Lucknow hotel fire incident

Lucknow, Sept 11: Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, ordered the suspension of a total of 15 government employees from five different departments for their incompetence in the four-fatality hotel fire disaster that occurred there.

Four retired policemen will also face legal proceedings for negligence and violations.

The action was taken following the submission of the report by the two-person investigation panel, which included Lucknow Police Commissioner SB Shiradkar and Commissioner (Lucknow Division) Roshan Jacob.

“These instructions have been given by the Chief Minister after receiving the inquiry report of Police Commissioner Lucknow and Divisional Commissioner Lucknow regarding the fire accident,” the State Government Spokesperson said.

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh imposed harsh punishment on the authorities who appeared to have acted improperly and carelessly during the incident involving the fire at the Hotel Levana in Lucknow.

According to the spokesperson, departmental action, including suspension, will be taken against the personnel of the Home Department, Energy Department, Appointments Department, Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), and Excise Department in accordance with the Chief Minister’s directives. In accordance with the current policies of the relevant departments, action will be taken against the retiring officers.

Meanwhile, the Lucknow administration ordered to seal and demolish the hotel.
